Great net this week! We had a total of 18 participants, from 5 grids and 3 states. The net ran from 8:00-9:10 PM local time on 144.220 MHz. Highlights and comments include:

o Congratulations to KC0GCU (Will) for his recent upgrade to General Class!

o Many commented on the Leonids meteor shower. There were several stations on the bands. It wasn’t the shower that was expected, but there was some good activity. Any hint of a peak seemed to be around 3:30-4:30 local time, when “pings” seemed to be at an increase, but typically very short pings. Contacts were being made on SSB and FSK441.

o Also some commented on 6m propagation with an Es opening last week, as well as some continued F2 propagation to Hawaii, the Caribbean, & South America. So far, no conditions into Europe as we had last year with the exception of the earlier scatter paths that were reported into Africa. o Check out the RMVHF+ web site which has now absorbed some of the information that was published in the newsletter and will be updated on a continual basis. http://www.rmvhf.org/

o A group out in Missouri was listening out for the net, but propagation was not very good and we heard only scatter signals by the group. N0PB (Phil) and N0SXW (Marion) were being heard by N0LL.

Very nice to have four Wyoming stations check into RMVHF net. Conditions were pretty good to the north with several on the net getting to work John K7NEP (ex N2NEP) in DN53 for a new one. He’s located 10 miles west of Kinnear, Wy and is working as a TV station engineer on an Indian Reservation.

On the net, we got carried away helping Gary N0KQY and K7NEP to make a contact but, unfortunately, they didn’t make it (though they heard pings). We missed calling the net to the east. Sorry to N0LL who told me later via email that he was on and trying to get through to us.

73 Ken, W0ETT

A very nice net tonight, thanks to John K7NEP I added grid number 84 worked on 2 meters. Nice to work you John and we hope you’ll be a regular check in. We also welcomed KGØIJ Steve in Loveland who just happened to be tuning the band and found us. The big surprise for me was another DM98 NØYK. Chad is running a FT-847 from Scott City. He was followed by our third new checking of the evening Francis KIØSC from Ellicott. A total of 20 on net last night!

John K7NEP worked KI0RN which is a new grid for Peter. Thanks to Dave W6OAL for working to the east for me, just too much QRN to hear Larry and Mike well.

We had 22 check-ins from 4 states. The DX this evening was K7TNT at 333 miles (miles from net control). Propagation was not all that good as there was a fast QSB. The DX stations would check in with 5 X 9 signals and then the next transmission they would be an S-2. Hopefully we will have a little better propagation in the new year. Please don’t forget out activity nights throughout the week; Tuesday 222.1, Wednesday 432.1, Thursday 1296.1 and Friday 902.1. These all start at 8PM – all are welcome.

CU 73, and a Happy New Year, Dave – W6OAL/Ø
